I've been regularly consigning with second time around for years now. I recently purchased a pair of Rachel Roy pinstripe pants for $25! I think that STA is a little bit expensive during its non-70% off days (cheapest item would be $20, and that's getting lucky), so I was really excited to see prices come down during their sale. The worst experience I have ever had at any consignment store.
Since 1976, Second Time Around has been Dayton's original Music and Video exchange. The company owes me over $300 from the West Village location - my consignment drop-off was March 1st and I haven't been paid a penny. They were originally marked $89 but were 70% off. I have not tried selling / consigning here, and with those scary reviews I won't be.
We are different from thrift stores since we take items that are in "like new" condition. I had water but still, I can party it up with H2O. I was lucky enough to snag BRAND NEW Valentino rockstud flats in my size and a neutral color for 60% off retail. At Houston, I have a rather expensive dress that I'm unable to pick up because it's closed due to a "leak.
I hope none of you do too, and can learn from my mistake. For example I dropped off a bright pink BCBG gown that was $300 and they priced it at $69. I've consigned at both Houston and Thompson. This company basically stole from all of its consignors. I, along with other many others have not received checks from 2nd Time Around for items we have cosigned. Forget that it is branded with a label, the craft of it is amazzzing! I walked away from this experience underselling my items and getting shortchanged.
