I think that's one of the things that's good about it. Loved this film !. We have flashblacks to when she was young remembering her mother. Such a struggle in her young life and great that this journey made her stronger. I loved it and found it very inspiring that I am now wanting to do this hike myself. Great moments, emotional yet funny and told the story very well. It was emotional, intriguing, and full of adventure.
A lot of time is spent on showing the viewer the past good times with mother and husband and on her self destructive behavior after her mother dies. I believe this movie could have been made in a way that was good, positive, inspirational, transformational, and motivational.
There are no inspirational moments of transformation. Who has since died. I highly recommend this film and it's one I am keeping to watch again some other time. I would say that at times it can be a little boring, but even then it is always more relaxing and peaceful. 'Wild' follows young woman Cheryl (Reese Witherspoon) as she sets out on a one thousand mile hike around the pacific trail in order to 'fix' herself from past traumas which we learn along the way in flashbacks. Vallee’s latest offering is alternately harrowing and heartbreaking, but laced with saving bursts of humor.
